　エーゲ海

エーゲ海よ
古代文明の揺り篭よ
輝きわたる海 アポロの種 蕾
貴方が南の微風と北の荒風とを結ぶとき
北のかたトラキアの砦からアポロは降り
クレタの孤島に到る！
ダイヤモンドを散りばめ風に縁取りされ
幾千の島と岩とを浮かべて
ライムの香りと様々の彩りに飾られた海よ
詩人たちや歌い手たちを
産み出した所
吟遊詩人たちの母でもあり
自由が求めた時には
偉大なる戦士たちの母でもある
貴方の栄光を説いたサラミスの戦士たちは
今再び敢然と立ち上がり彼らの誇り高き心を想う
この立ち並ぶ岩 岸辺 泡立つ波は
自由と文明の砦！

Aegean Sea!
Cradle of ancient Civilizations
Sea -all bright, the Apollo's seed- bud,
You unite the breezes of South with the anger of North,
When he descends from the northern bastions of Thrace,
And reaches the lonely Crete!…
Full sea of diamonds and embroided by the winds,
With thousand of islands and rocks,
All well decorated by lime and colours.
Land birthplace of Poets,
As well as talented singers,
Mother of Omerists,
But also of great fighters, when Liberty demands that!…
Y&our glories have been taught by the Salamis's fighters,
Who stand fairly, again, and remember your proud spirit:
These rocks, shores, and foams are Bastions
Of Freedom and Civilization!…


　　漁人達

北海の荒波に乗り
冷酷な冬の季節の向かって
カイークが無辺際の海で漁をしている
過酷な冬の風にその帆綱は打ち合い継ぎ目はきしみ
小さな舟は絶えず沖へと押しやられる！
彼等はやがて遥かな及びもつかない
水平線にまで到るのだろう
若い船乗りたちは波立つ泡に打たれ
母親たちは岸辺で打ちひしがれている
その時聖ニコラスは再び夜明けをもたらし
小船は帆を揚げて岸辺を目指す
歓迎の宴 安らぎの日々が戻るのだ！
人々はラキやラムを浴びるように飲むのだ		 　FISHERMEN

On the wild waves of the North,
the caique fishes in the open sea,
into the cruel weather of the winter.
Which makes its riggings beat, its joins crackle
and pushes continually the small ship
towards the open sea!…
They will touch the Horizon's lines,
resembling so distant and unapproachable.
The young sailors who are beated by the foam,
and then their mothers are beated at the seashore.
When Saint-Nickolas brings again the day-dawn,
the bratsera will also return to the coast!
O, what feast, what holiday it will become!
All the team will be bathed in raki and rum!…




Note: caique= Greek fishing boat Bratsera= a kind of sailboat Raki= Greek drink

Dr. Danae G. Papastratou: 非常に健筆なギリシアの女流詩人。また作家でもあり、随筆家、翻訳家、編集者でもある。数々の文芸協会に所属して活躍していて、現在もっとも輝いている詩人の一人である。
